Le Ruffiant

I started making music as a teenager. Maybe I was around 14-15 years old when playing the electric guitar first caught my interest. Most notably I played guitar in the band 'Safarikniv' - a punchdrunk punk band originating from a small town called Levanger in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.

A few years later I studied guitar for a few years in high-school where my love for jazz and heavy metal developed. I then had a stint at a studentradio in Trondheim where I hosted a couple of radio-shows, where my love for music was allowed to further develop. After those years I moved to a small town called Bath in the south west of England where I studied Creative Music Technology. It was around this time, 2003 where the name 'Le Ruffiant' appeared - in the very uncomplicated process of scanning the dictionary for words I liked. I found the word Ruffian: "A ruffian is a scoundrel, rascal or unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person", which does not have much likeness to me as a private person :)

I liked the word but decided to make it my own, and decided to 'french it up' with a Le and 't' ending to the word. I do not have much knowledge of French, which you most probably could tell me if you have ever studied the language.

The last tune made under the name Le Ruffiant was in 2007 and can be found on myspace:

I have also made many, many more tunes than those who can be found on myspace, if you care to check them out - the best place is probably the Norwegian page 'Urørt': Le Ruffiant on Urørt

I also made some music videos for Le Ruffiant in 2006, which can be found on the youtube page Le Ruffiant on youtube
